Wedding of the Month: Katherine and Johnny

Katherine and Johnny got married on April 8th 2017. He proposed to her on top of Breakneck Mountain which is located right above our venue! Luckily when they were up there, there was a photographer and they got the most amazing and breathtaking engagement photos!

This happy couple knew the Chalet was the right place for them! The bridal party got some great photo op time on our back patio in front of the waterfall. They were having so much fun as you can see….

It was  just a tad windy out that day, but they managed to have a wonderful ceremony outside! Right in front of the waterfall and all of their guests.

The reception had them dancing the night away with their friends and family. They also got to cut their beautiful magnolia cake!

And then one last peek at the brides gown just because it was absolutely stunning!

We wish you both the best from all of us here at the Chalet!

Non Traditional Wedding Cake Ideas

Many wedding couples opt for a non-traditional wedding cake. They forego white fondant and/or icing in favor of something more colorful, a non-icing option, or a theme. They are choosing cakes that reflect their personality and tastes. If you are considering the non-traditional cake route, here are some ideas to serve as inspiration.

Romantic Wedding Cakes

What makes a wedding cake romantic? There is something about flowers on a wedding cake that speaks romance. Blooms have long been associated with love and romance. The Greeks used a flower to represent Venus, the goddess of love. White roses symbolize unity and true love. So what better to decorate a wedding cake with than flowers – be them white or colorful. Ruffles and romance are also a perfect pairing. They can be both artful and sophisticated.  Ribbons and lace have  also long been associated with love and romance. With so many options to choose from, here are a few wonderful romantic inspirations to help you along.

All White Wedding Cakes

An all white wedding cake is classic. There is something so elegant about its monochromatic simplicity. Just because the color is simple, however, doesn’t mean that the cake will be boring. The visual appeal is all in the details. Geometric patterns create a more modern look. Flowers, depending upon their style, can transform plain icing or fondant into something dramatic or simple. A ruffled effect can work with a relaxed or vintage theme. Piping and polka dots transcend another time. You can kick it up a notch with ribbons and sashes. Below are some inspiring ideas.
